Every Child Should Come With a Dog!

This morning while Ali ate her waffles, Morty was outside.  She was putting one in her mouth, then one on the floor.  What a mess!  But instead of getting out the broom...

We just let Morty in!!!

(I know his hair looks terrible...he has a thyroid problem)

All clean!

Surgery...

Ali had her surgery on her ears today. She had both tubes removed, both replaced and also had her adnoids removed. It was an early morning... starting at 5:30 a.m. for us! She of course woke up happy and was so sweet waiting for them to take her back. When they did come and get her she went back smiling. Even though this was the 3rd time she's been put under, it still kills me to let them come and walk away with my baby. I'm guessing it never gets easy.
Because Ali had her adnoids removed, she had to have an IV and a little more sedation. This made it a little bit harder for her to wake up. She was sad and cried while trying to wake up. The doctor came in and told us she did great in the surgery and most everything went well. When the dr took her left tube out, the hole that was left behind didn't close up well, so he had to put a small patch on it. He said we might have to go back in in a few weeks and re-patch it if it doesn't work.

You might notice the rash on this cute baby's face... well she's had it since Saturday along with a high fever. We thought the rash was just due to the fever she had, but the fever broke on Monday and the rash kept getting worse. My sister, Whitney's girls have also been sick, and she took them in to the doctor today. When she explained Ali's symptoms her doctor said to get her in right away. So... we went back into Logan and saw her pediatrician. Come to find out, she has hand foot and mouth disease. She is now on medication for it, but is contagious for a few days. Poor girl! Through it all she was smiling and being as happy as she possibly could be.
Cute little socks and hospital tag. :)
This is how I survived today. One for each trip made into Logan. Both full of Diet Coke. It's been a L-O-N-G day.

Shoe Shopping!

Ali and I went shoe shopping today and found these ADORABLE sandals for her!  Yes, I purchased shoes for my child that isn't walking yet... but they are so darn cute!  It kills me how tan this girl is naturally, look at my pasty white feet compared to her beautiful bronzed ones.

First Dentist Appointment!

Ali got to go to the dentist for the first time today!  I thought she had an extra tooth behind her front bottom teeth... I was wrong.  In all fairness, I wasn't the only one who thought they saw it though - Whitney saw it too!
Ali was awesome for the hygenist and dentist!  She laid down and let them brush her teeth and put fluoride on.  Then she let the dentist count and scrape (is that what they call it?) her teeth.  She thought it was all pretty funny and would try to bite the dentist and then laugh this creepy little laugh.  The dentist said her teeth look strong and healthy!  It must be all that brushing we do at night! :)
It was funny though because the dentist looked over her chart and then saw that I had written down that she has Down Syndrome.  There was another family in the same area as us, and when he starting talking about what to expect with her teeth and her Down's he started whispering.  I thought it was hilarious, since the family that was in there with us all of a sudden started listening and looking over at us.  Did the dentist think it was a secret that she has Down's?  Did he not want to embarras us in front of the other family?  Did he not want Ali to hear that she has Down Syndrome?  I really didn't understand, I wasn't offended or anything, I just thought it was really funny that his voice dropped!

Ali got a sticker that was obviously delicious!  (On a side note, how cute do those little leg-warmers look?!?!  Aunt Whitney did her hair in pigs today and she looked like a little 80's aerobic's instructor!)

Happy World Down Syndrome Day!

Today is World Down Syndrome Day!  The 21st day of the 3rd month (to symbolize a thrid copy of the 21st chromosone)!
We are so happy to have little Miss. Ali to celebrate with!  She is such a joy in our lives and the best baby EVER!  If it wasn't for Down Syndrome, we wouldn't get to share our lives with this sweet little girl.  We love you baby!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

This year a leprechaun came and visited us!  He left some fun treats for us to eat!  We also ate some lovely rainbow fruit shish kabobs, had a yummy mint/chocolate pie, fresh lime squeezes, and some green mac and cheese (complete with green beans and 'golden' corn)!

Ali eating her lucky charms... she still prefers waffles!  What child doesn't love sugar cereal?!?

For some reason, Ali was a huge fan of this green bread from The Old Grist Mill.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Swinging at the Park

What a beautiful couple of days we've had! The weather has been amazing, so we ran out to our little neighborhood park today to do a little swinging! Ali LOVES to swing this year, so I have a feeling we will be spending a great deal of time at the park this summer!

Coloring!

I got this Aqua-Doodle for Ali on the after-Chistmas clearance sale at Walmart. It's Cars 2, so a little boy-ish but that's ok. She actually had a good time drawing on it. I'm not sure if she 100% got what she was doing, but she enjoyed herself for a while! :)

1st Pony Tail

Ali had her hair done in her first pony tail the other day!  There had to be a few extra elastics due to her uneven hair growth!  I think it makes her look so much older!

Shark Teeth

Well, Ali is 16 months and 5 days old and has a variety of teeth in her mouth! She has her two bottom teeth (she got them at 12 mo), one front top tooth, and a few molars! We might have to start calling her 'Shark Tooth' though because of the fun little tooth that is coming in behind her front bottom teeth! That's right, a second row of teeth. Needless to say, we have an appointment with a dentist to see what we're going to do about that.
I've asked a few people (dentists, doctors, therapists, etc) if I should anticipate any teeth problems due to her Down's. The only thing I've been told is that her teeth will probably pop in in a strange order (VERY TRUE!). So, the spare tooth was a surprise! Her teeth are also VERY sharp (which can also be a Down's thing).
So here is our little 'Shark-Tooth'!
